Employment Legislations

 Most employees and employers operate under what is known as the master-servant relationship. The employee, the servant is expected to perform his duties under the supervision and for the good of the employers, if left unchecked, sometimes abuse their power.
 
Employment laws are designed to balance out the master-servant relationship so that the employer cannot abuse or discriminate against the employee.
 
Moreover, Covid – 19 has overruled many rights of workers supposedly to preserve jobs.

Course Outcomes

 After delivery of the course, candidates will have an understanding of the rights and obligations of employer and employee under the Mauritian’s legal framework and the practical aspects. They will be able to deal with issues, such as, the Employment Act, the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act, the Post Retirement Re-employment, the Workplace Safety and Health Act, the Work Injury Compensation Act, the Industrial Relations Act, amongst others.

Course objectives

 The purpose of the course is to align candidates with Labour Policies & Legislation competency covered in IHRP Certification. The aim is to enhance the knowledge, capability and strength then HR profession practice in the country. It is important that HR professionals, managers and front line supervisors have a working knowledge of employment laws and guidelines.
